Dangerous Operative Procedure.

Cardioversion, in my opinion, is a dangerous procedure to have done. It involves putting the patient to sleep, then using electric shocks to regulate the heart rythm. I had it done and believe me that is about as close to death as I wanted to be, at that time. I was only asleep for about three minutes, but when I woke up, my chest felt as though someone had hit me with a baseball bat. The cardiologist had to shock my heart three times to get it to beat right. He started out with 50 joules(watts/sec). That did not do the job so he hit me with 100 Joules. This still did not convert it to a regular rythm. He then hit me with 200 Joules, and that did the trick. My heart now beats 66-72 times per minute, instead of 140+ times a minute. The muscles, in my chest, were sore for a week. It feels like you have gone through an intensive workout, after not having worked out for years. Then just stop.
