I recently returned from studying abroad in Europe. We were based on the Mediterranean island of Cyprus, but traveled to Greece, Italy, Egypt and Amsterdam. Traveling to Cyprus was probably the most rewarding experience of my life so far. It was my first time out of the US and it was fascinating to see a new country that WASN'T directly influenced by the US. I think we as Americans tend to assume the world revolves around us but living in a distant country for 5 months has showed me that this is not true at all. I loved learning about a different culture, meeting its people and seeing what hospitality and friendliness truly means.

I've travelled throughout the world, however, I must say that my most rewarding trip(s) have been those that incorporate some form of service into them. Specifically, I spent 6 weeks in New Delhi working at an Catholic orphanage, where I was able to experience first hand the plights of developing countries, and able to assist them (though on a small scale) in service. I spent time with the children, but I also assisted in repairing the "campus".
