How much do you tip them? When I was in Nevada and didn't drive, I always took taxi cabs and always tipped at least $2. Just curious how much the normal tip is.

Not sure about dollares but I tip about £1. A always think they charge enough as it is. I didnt used to tip at all! Why do you have to tip taxi drivers but not people who work in places like shops, thats my question?

Yes ofcourse, but it depends on the bill and also if I find the driver good and even.

I give a tip depending on the taxi driver. Usually, it's keep the change system for me. It's so funny the way our taxi system usually works in the Philippines (my country of birth). There is a rate meter but the taxi drivers don't follow or use it. Before you get to sit, you have to negotiate with the driver because they will fix the rate. In short, the meter is just for display. Since the rate has been fixed (which I suppose is double the rate compared to the usual meter rate), there is no need to tip anymore. I usually leave around 20 pesos or a little less than 50 cents' change which is for the driver to keep (which in the Philippines is already okay, considering the exorbitant rate at the start).

I would always tip a taxi cab. I think it depends on the amount of the trip though. Just as you would tip a server at a restaurant depending on how much the bill was, I think the same should apply to taxi trips. Taxi drivers are underpaid anyway, so a little something extra I'm sure makes their day.

I've never ridden in a taxi so I don't know and I too am curious on what a normal tip is in case I ever need to take one. As far as a 10, 15 minute drive and then maybe a cross-town 30, 40 minute drive?

You know, I've always wondered what the normal tip rate is for cabs. I used to live in Denver and we took cabs all the time when we would go out. Our usual was the change plus a buck or two. So let's say the fare was $7.25 then we'd give them $9. (and this is for a 7 minute cab ride) Then in Vegas, same thing, but I think we usually uped it a little. If the fare was $10.75 we'd give them $13 or something. But I have no idea if we were being generous or cheap. lol

it too depends on how much the taxi fare is at my stop, if it's say about 4 pound, i will give him or her 5 pound and say they can keep the pound, they always seem happy when they get tipped even if it's a few pence..hehe! :o)

If a trip dosts £9 i will give him/her a tenner and say keep the change. Its dependant on how much the trip costs me in the first place really
