I would agree so, but not just becuase of reliance on cars. I'd say technology makes people fat b/c of the new technology that makes it so you can eat food now-a-days without even cooking! There are many fattening meals that can be eaten instantly because of the new technology that goes into them. Plus, restaurants are making things faster and faster, people are just getting food faster and faster, and it seems all people ever want to do is eat!

Things are somuch easier to do nowadays like the remote control for the tv, your mobile phone..dont have to get off your butt to much.
As a shiny butt myself (office worker) now that my days of military and engineering hands on are behind me, i make a point of walking the dog everyday,go on my cycle 4 times a week and walk the kids to school

I think maybe it's a combination of the availability of technology and the easy availability of food. I have a job where I sit in front of a computer all day, but I make a point of exercising several times a week, just because it makes me feel much better, not for weight loss since I'm not overweight. It really helps, on more than one level.

I don't think that our advance in technology has made people fat. I think is the sedentary lifestyle that people have chosen is what's making people fat. For instance, I try to go to the gym and workout as many days of the week as I can, and I still have time to sit down and work online for a while. I love the technology and because of it doctors can use robotics to do a bypass surgery leaving patients with only a two inch scar! Amazing ah!
