My first thought is that it sounds like a great idea! People would be happier if they were able to spend more time with their families and more time developing hobbies, relaxing, etc. One might think that would lead to more productive workers. Surely most jobs could be condensed. I know from being in the work force for many years that a lot of slacking goes on, lol.

I'd support it for the simple reason of respecting the Sabbath day. A day for rest and rejuvenation. Most people get Saturday and Sunday off, but since Saturday is the only business day for lots of places, most people end up spending their ENTIRE Saturday running around doing errands, and it takes a great deal of the pleasure out of the weekend. It would be nice to have Friday AND Saturday with our families, and Sunday to rest, pray and have fellowship.

That would be good for some. For others it would be to long of a day. I think i would be willing to do something like that. Then I could have a full weekday to run arrends.

Well, some government offices in the Philippines have tried this 4-day work week. In particular, an aunt of mine who works in the Cultural Center of the Philippines has this schedule. So far, she prefers it to the regular 5-day work week because she said she gets to save more money (on transportation most especially), she gets to do more chores at home, she gets to learn how to maximize her time, and she has more time for the family. She's totally liking it! As for me, I think it aids in the traffic situation. I would also probably go for it if given the choice.
