Did you play an instrument in school?

I love music myself and always have. I played the flute for four years and the Saxaphone for two. I loved every minute of it. I never went to band camp so no band camp jokes. I have two sisters that also played. One played the claranet for about six years and the other played the violin for six years and she still does every now and then. I would have to say band was one of the highlights of my school days and I know I was lucky to have it. Many people around the world don't get that oppurtunity and I think that's wrong. Anyways share your comments about what instruments you useto play and maybe what you think about not everyone getting the chance to have any kind of instrumental band in their school.

I loved/love music, and I did play several instruments throughout my school days, from recorder, to flute, to cello, piano and guitar lol did not stick with any one, but got to learn at least the basics and more in some cases. I was also part of the choir at school and even as I started working with the adult choir from my work. I think it is a great opportunity to be able to learn how to play musical instruments at school. First of all ot includes us in a group, which is important at that age. Then it allow up to recognize and appreciate different kinds of music that we might not even pay attention otherwise, and to top it all it's fun :)

:) Exactly. Who wouldn't want to have a fun class at school?

I used to play the guitar during my high school days. In college, there was no guitar club so I joined the choir. That put an end to my guitar playing days. My children were into the guitar at first, then they moved on to the organ. Now, they have all stopped playing because they have become all hooked up to various computer games available at their fingertips through the net.

I've noticed that happening more and more. The internet is really degrating the new generations. Being young I can say that the internet has a BIG impact on my life and i'd probably be better off without it.

i played the piano, and during that time, nobody else knew how to play the instrument. i always got picked whenever there were programs and stuff. i wasn't really good at it, but the school didn't have any choice, lol!

I started playing the flute the summer before 4th grade. I was in band all the way through school and even minored in flute performance in college. I even went to band camp, but it bore little resemblance to the one discussed in American Pie :-). I don't play very much anymore, but I will get out my flute for special occasions, such as weddings, etc. I think music is an important part of education, whether singing or playing an instrument. It's good for your brain and it's fun. There was always more than one band in the schools I attended, so everyone who wanted to got to participate, though maybe not in the top band. I definitely think it's important for all kids to get the opportunity.

I play the gutiar in my spare time, I've gotten pretty decent at it, I suppouse. I was also in my highschool drumline, I played the tenors a little bit. My biggest speciality in drumline was the steel drums, I always liked to call them trashcans. :P

I played the flute in 5th grade and played violin in my high school orchestra (which was the best time in high school--I just loved orchestra). I haven't played since I graduated since the violin belonged to the school and I had to give it back. I hope to get one some day and teach my kids to play.

Yes, I did, I played the piano at school, and was quite good, but I never worked hard, and got into terrible trouble with my tutor. On the other hand, I loved playing the guitar, especially Rock riffs, which is how I started, and I also stole a few chords from a friend who played.

Hi Giggles, wow the saxophone, I always wanted to learn that but never did. I played the guitar for 7 years and the trumpet and drums in the school band for 5 years. I enjoyed playing the guitar and wanted to continue learning even after I left school but couldn't find a proper teacher. I remember vaguely what I learnt back then, its been such a long time now. I played the guitar with a group of my friends for school parties, church choirs...it felt good:)

Not in school as I had never heard of a school band until came to the states. I had private piano lessons which I am glad I did. When I was growing up every well bred young lady learned to play a musical instrument. (LOL)

i played the saxophone for about 3 years, and the piano (outside band) on the side for 2 years. i think everyone should at least learn to play one instrument. They help people understand music more, at least appreciate what the famous musicians do. it shows how hard it is to be a musician.

Music is my passion, every time as I get free I use to sing and I sing well, when I was in 6 std I used to play Mouth Organ. I learned a lot and got perfection. But since last 4-5 years I have not used it.

When I was in high school I played the French horn and the Trombone. I liked them at the time but as time went on I drifted away from them. Now I found my new love, playing the drums. -Matt

We have an instrumental school band but i never played in one. But i was with a group of youths that was organized because of our common interest that is music and we also want to bond as friends. During our practices and gatherings, i got informal lessons on how to play the guitar. Though i learned how to play but i'm just not good at it. I think i would just stick to singing.
