No I would not cause you don't know what they are going to spend it on. I would rather buy them food and give it to them

I agree with you Polly, I give if I think the person is genuine, and if they are not, God knows that I did what I thought was right.
We all could say "there, but for the grace of God goes me"

I think it's a bad idea to assume that someone is homeless simply because they are lazy. Many times these people just can't make ends meet and/or can't find a job despite all their looking.

I agree with you, but if I see someone in a really sad state and real old I do soemtimes. Most times I take them to the nearest eatery-retaurant and order food for them, rather than give them money. I ensure that they don't try and wheedle the money that I have paid for their food from the restaurant help insiead of eating the food.

We have a few homeless people who live in the woods not too far from where I live. I think most are old veterans and have slight mental problems. Most people in the area give them a few bucks when they see them around. They also get coffee and food from the fast food places. They are nice guys, they actually like the way they live.

I never liked to give to people asking for money because you can tell some of them are cons, but how would I really know. I would hope someone would give to me if I ever was down and out and really needed help. I made a deal with the Lord that if I ever had money or change in my pocket when someone on the street approached me that needed it....I would give it to them and trust that the Lord had a plan for it. This started for me when I didn't have any money to spare. Never failed...the Lord tested my heart and I turned over my money. No more conflict....no money in pocket can't do it.

Wow, what if you were in that situation, any one of us can be there. Things happen. Its not always being lazy or even dirty. If you feel laziness is killing human qualities what human qualities are you talking about?

It really depends.
I give sometimes. Because of my sins which are bigger than theirs. Never give to adults who could work, but to kids or elder persons.

To me, it depends on their situation. Each individual is different, and to me, some needs are Genuine, and you never know what can come from it. If we give to others in their time of need, we will be blessed for it. You really never know when it might not be you needing the help.
But then if they are holding a Sign, you just decipher for yourself thru your gut feelings if they are genuine or not, and hope you are doing the right thing.

No, I never give money to any beggers. Because I personally know people who con people into giving them money and it is dishonest, it don't matter if they look like they are on the street either because I know people who dress like they live on the streets to scam money, to drink, or get high etc...
So even if I have money I tell them I am broke

I give to very old people or disabled person. Sometimes it's very hard for me not to give for children..but I should not give them any money when they beg
