will you give money to beggers?

i am not giving money to beggars, i give food to them, they say they are hungry, why should i give them money? if i have food in hand, like bread or candies or anything... i give it to beggars.

we sometimes do. here in the US, we only give like .50 - .75 and no more than that. they are people who actually can get a job (or at least the ones weve given). in mexico we do give a little more to those who at least try and do something. people who clean your car, kids jog with 3 joggling balls. those we give a little more than those who just ask for money.

I often give alms to old people who ask for help. I seldom give streetchildren money though, I prefer to give them food. I get comments from my friends that I should not be like this for there is no way to be sure if these people are really in need. These do not stop me from doing what I like doing best and I always think that old people would really find hard time to earn money because of their age incapacitates them to do so. I would just hope everytime that I give that they use whatever money they have for anything that is good.
