BLOOD TYPES IN DOGS AND CATS Yes, there are blood types in cats and dogs, although the classifications and sub-types are much simpler in pets than in people. The red blood cells (RBC) themselves are essentially identical within a species; what differs is the genetically controlled antigens on the RBC membrane. This means that the blood groups are inherited from the previous generation, some dominant and some recessive. The main difference between the dominant and the recessive inheritance is that for the trait to be seen in the offspring, the recessive trait must be inherited from both parents, whereas the dominant can be from either or both parents. Now that I have confused everyone, , let's go on to answer the question! Animal blood transfered to human just wouldnt work! Dogs have three major blood groups: DEA 1.1, 1.2, and 7. Of these three, DEA 7 occurs in about half the dog population. Cat blood groups are the simplest of all the domestic species with only two major blood groups, A and B. Cat populations tested in the United States have shown that about 99% have blood group A, so the risk of an incompatible transfusion is very low amonst cats. However, some breeds of cats, such as the Abyssinian, Birman, British Shorthair, Devon Rex, Himalayan, Persian, Scottish Fold and Somali, have a higher incidence of blood group B. Incompatible transfusions leads to rapid destruction of transfused RBC, which, of course, means the transfusion will be of little help in meeting the need for RBCs in the recipient. In terms of blood to weight ratios, dogs have about 7% of their body weight as blood, while cats have only 4% of their body weight as blood.

The answer is no. Why? Human DNAs are different from animal's DNA. Besides, not all human to human blood transfer is possible. For example, a human with blood type A cannot donate to a patient with blood B and likewise. Patients with blood type O can donate to any patient with any blood whereas blood type AB patients can receive from all donors. Good news is most human are O type. However, the case discussed are only for blood type A, B, AB and O. There are some other rare blood types out there.

Yes definitely.DNA's are diferent of animals and human beings isn't it? i also know that all human bloods are not transeferable as of now and in coming day's who know's what all new things will be introduced in the medical science isn't it? i didn't know that most human beings are having "O" group...! Anyway's, thanks for responding

It is not about DNA. Baboons have DNA and blood very similar to man, but.... it only takes one transmission from one baboon to one human to start an epidemic. It would likely to transfer unknown viruses against which we have no defences, no cure.
