well poetry i think is more of the mood, it depends on what mood your soul is in, if u r in an angry then it will b hard for u. b/c u r not in the mind set of writing.

I used to be able to do that before...once thoughts come to me, I usually am able to write a poem from start to finish. Oddly enough, though, I'm not able to do that anymore, or maybe it's also because I haven't really set aside time for writing as much as I used to...
But I do agree with you that you also have to be in the mood to write poetry, & with the right inspiration to be able to write poetry. Wishing you the best...btw, based from the titles, yor poems sound wonderful...

I have to be in the mood to write. *shrugs* But I can write off the top of my if need-be. I guess each person is different though in their own writing styles.

I have no time now but when I had a period with more time for myself I used to sit down each day and just scribble sentences and words which eventually would become one or more poems.
And I'm inspired by events like writing a poem for the wedding of my friends.

I too write poetry, but very infrequently, and again, like you, I need to be in the mood for it. For me, writing poetry is a lot about channeling my mind. When the setting is right, the words just seem to flow. I usually only think about what I want to write a poem about and not the words. The words just come to me without even thinking on them. I think that it's just a talent that I have been born with. I once had a clear picture of what I wanted to write about, and no matter how hard I tried, I just could not get the right words. I spent a lot of time, trying to get them but to no avail. A few days later, I was sitting in a boring class at college and was fighting to stay awake when suddenly the words started appearing in my mind. So fast and so furiously did they appear, that I had written down the entire poem, without even striking out or substituting a single word. All within fifteen minutes! And the end result was quite good and had all my friends and even a couple of teachers ooohing and aaahing over it!
Sadly, it's been over a year since I wrote any poetry, but going by the law of averages, my spur of inspiration is just around the corner. Who knows! It may happen even tonight!
