Would you tell someone she or he has bad breath?

I told someone who lives with me. I cannot bear it is the major reason. What do you think are some of the "guidelines" on how to deal with such a situation?

This is tough !!! :)) If you say it to the person ... it makes it feel bad... but if you don't it's not the best thing to do aither. :( But my opinion is that you must speak with that person... and say it with grace. Don't be to hard with that person. It's not a good thing.

Yes, i agree. As I have posted before, the lady works for me. If the circumstances had been different, maybe I would have left the issue alone and just vanished from her vicinity (at least within a radius of miles!). Still, I had to find the right timing, and when I did, find an intro, like "oh, by the way, do you have a problem with your teeth, gums or something?". When the ice was broken, I gave her a short technical and impersonal discussion of the reasons behind it like as I said, cavities, or some internal disorderm hoping she will not feel responsible for it, as if it was something out of her control. Then, of course, it can also be a case of oral hygeine, but I mentioned that in connection with the "its-not-your-fault" causes. At the end of it, she was happy for some advice. She's still with me now, and she is ok now. She's still working for me. But then, again, this is something sticky. thanks for your thoughts!

I am happy that everything went well... and the person didn't felt bad. It's good that she saw that you want to give her an advice and she didn't think that you say what you say just to make fun of her. Congratulation for your "operating" mode. You did a great job .. the way you handle it... with grace.

By the way, AmStaff, I agree that it would not be very kind as well to leave the person unknowing. : cheers!

I try to tell that person indirectly by offering or introducing this new mouth wash product or new gum or something. I'll just do anything to avoid bad breath.

You ARE funny! and not rude, huh?! A subtle gift of a truckload of mouthwash is a stroke of genius :D Thanks for the laugh, but it is true; this is tough. Of course, it was a bit easier for me because the lady worked for me. Still, it took a while before I was able to raise the issue. Thanks!
