What is the proper age to date for teenagers? Is it different for boys then it is girls? Times are changing so fast right now. I am still old fashion about dating but have told my son that he could bring the person to the house for dinner and stuff and they could go to the movies with friends. They just can't be alone. Am I being a prude? Just wondering. By the way he will be 15 soon

I think the proper age to date, starts from the age of 17. At 17-18 boys and girls generally pass their high-school. They become matured, and complete their adolescense. They then starts behaving like matured adults, and in a year or two, becomes fully matured to take up all responsibilities. Therefore this is the age, when they can detect the right and wrong, they can choose a correct partner to date. They also can take correct decisions, whether to date with the same partner again, or to stop. These are very important decisions, that girls and boys can't take at an age younger than 17. I feel that way.

I believe you have the instinctive protectiveness every parent should have towards a son or daughter. From an Islamic point of view extra-marital relationships are highly discouraged. A teenager is encouraged to maintain his/her virginity until marriage... Hope I added something to this discussion.
