I have never done that to any place of employment. I can understand if there is any emergency and you don't have time to call and then call the first chance that you get. I get so mad when my employees don't show and then the next day they act like nothing is wrong.

Honestly, I did do it once and that was because of the fact that I was very disgruntled with that employer and I hadn't had a chance to get over there and turn in my letter of resignation.
What had happened was I had been injured while at work and for a month I was on office duty, which I had no problem at all with doing. I was still on lifting restrictions of ten pounds (which meant that I couldn't even pick up my then two year old daughter) and my boss wanted me to go back on the floor and take care of patients. I'd been working as a nursing assistant. I didn't feel like that was going to do me or my patient's any good and therefore I was going to resign from the job. However, the day that I no-call, no-showed I'd had an appointment with the workman's comp doctors and didn't get out in time to take in my letter of resignation.
Can you believe that my boss was dumb enough to call me as soon as my lifting restrictions were lifted and ask me if I wanted to come back to work after I'd turned in a letter of resignation?

Never though I see it every day. Callcenters are a crazy place, a battlefield almost.

I've only done that once. I had a 2nd job at my hubby (then boyfriend) work and I didn't realize I was scheduled to go into work. I called to find out after I had been sitting up all night playing a very addicting game. There was no way with that job that I was going to survive a shift on a few hours sleep. Hubby said I'd probably be written up for it or fired if I did a no show.... so I just considered myself fired.
