Lower carb intake. It's the best way I know of to lose weight. Two months ago, my husband came home and told me he wanted to lose weight. He's 6'4" and was nearly 320lbs. He wasn't fat, he was just getting pudgy. So.. I stopped making the mashed potatoes and the rice and the pasta. I increased our veggie servings and decreased our carb servings. Rather than making sandwiches for his lunches.. I started using romane lettuce leaves for wraps. If you take a can of tuna, mix it with a few tablespoons of softened cream cheese and a little mayo and a little mustard.. my husband likes diced pickles and some pine nuts added also.. I'd spread this into a romane lettuce leaf and put in some cucumber slices as well. It seems like it wouldn't be enough for a husband to eat for lunch, right? Well, that's what I thought. So I'd send four of these wraps with him for lunch, but two would always come home! He said they were very filling.. and the protein in them kept him feeling full and not hungry at all during the day.
I'd give him string cheese sticks as snacks.. which only have 1g carb. Air popped popcorn is low carb also. I started cooking him eggs for breakfast, rather than oatmeal or other hot cereals. I make veggie lasanga with egg plant as the noodles. He gets the same taste, just without the extra carbs.
After two months, he is down to 260lbs! That's 60 pounds in two months. His job isn't physical. He sits at a desk most of the day. However, he does take judo at the YMCA twice a week. That is his only excercise.
The children aren't missing the carbs too much, but I do make them mac&cheese for lunch once in a while. They aren't too fond of all the veggies, but they'll happily eat most veggies if I give them either ranch or nutella to dip them in.
I also bought a book called Protein Power and that helped a lot. There are a few recipes in there and loads of great tips. It wasn't expensive, I think it was about $4 on amazon.

That's brilliant, well done the both of you and it all sounds so wonderfully tastey.
I do have a bit of a problem getting my kids to eat veg and have to hide it whenever possible.
I used to diet tragically until last year I decided to give up and suprisingly didn't put any more weight on so all the Drs diets weren't working for me.
I need to find away that works without feeling hungry or deprived, I don't eat sweets, so I know it's not that I think it must be serving size so if I can full up and eat less at the same time I should finally start to shift the 4 - 5 stone that really aught to go.
Thank yo uso much for your response, the leaf sarnies sound fab!

Try Negative Diet. For yourself only. there are some fruits and vegetables that actually your calories for digesting them. they dont add you any calories but they reduce them from your body. search online for more details.
2. Homeopathy has got some excellent syrups for reducing weight except the hereditory weights.
3. Bitter gourd is crushed and the extracted liquid is drunk early in the morning - it is hard but it will work. REMEMBER, This will not work for the whole body weight but for those who have big belly only.

The only one diet I believe is good and working is small portions diet. Eat every 3-4 hours, small portions. Do not use big plates. Small plate only. Small fork. Play good music. Slow down when you eat. You can eat whatever you want.

I would say go with pasta dishes, and just be careful not to have too much oil/cream to the sauce (just put loads of tomato, oregano and garlic instead). Pasta is also filling, so you never feel deprived, but the weight will drop off anyway.
I tend to put on weight everytime I start earting lots of takeaways and ready meals, and lose it everytime I start cooking myself. So I don't think you really need any special recipes - just cut out the ready meals/takeaways and you'll be OK.

Hi Snowflake, you are right, I just need to feel full, I was fine until I had the kids then it all wnet wrong and when I diet I really try to had so I need to find new ways to do it. Shrek will go for take-away after he'seaten whatever I cook for him and will work his way roundthe cupboards most evenings, bless im. I have stopped joining him but he hasn't even noticed just looks at me funny when I say no.
We had take-away 3 times last week and there was no excuse for it except that I had been poorly so Monday he had his tea and I had a bit of his takeaway, wednesday was valentines so I got takeaway for a treat, friday he came home with pizza chips and kebabs for everyone ans Saturday we met his parents for luch - they took usto an eat all you want chinese buffet. No wonder I felt ill after a week of that. It had to be the worst food week I've ever had.
This week it's been stir fried veg, egg, tuna, muller lite yoghurt, sunflower seeds etc. No bread or pottoes and I seem to ave survived,

Recommendations for dieting:
Do not eat meat more than once a day. Fish and poultry are recommended instead of red or processed meats.
Avoid frying food because food absorbs the fats from cooking oils and this increases dietary fat intake. Bake or broil food instead. If you do fry, use polyunsaturated oils, such as corn oil.
Include adequate fiber in your diet. Fiber is found in green leafy vegetables, fruit, beans, bran flakes, nuts, root vegetables, and whole grain foods. Fiber often makes you feel full without having to eat excess calories.
Do not eat more than 4 eggs per week. Although they are a good source of protein and low in saturated fat, eggs are very high in cholesterol, and should be eaten in moderation for that reason.
Choose fresh fruit for desserts rather than cookies, cake, or pudding.
Cut down on salt, whether it be table salt, or flavor intensifiers that contain salt such as monosodium glutamate (MSG).
Too much of anything has its drawbacks, whether it be calories, or a particular type of food. A well-balanced diet with creativity and variety are best suited to your needs.

Well I was going to recommend much that has already been posted here. When I want to lose weight, I will only eat higher fiber food choices for my early meals. FOr example, breakfast may include Oatmeal with an apple. Both are excellent sources for fiber, which helps to fill you up.
For lunch, always keep it lean with meat choices: chicken, tuna, turkey and ham. Steer clear of bologna and other lunchmeats. Always include fruits and veggies with each meal.
Drink plenty of water (64 oz. a day at least!) because this will help flush the fats out of your system. The water is necessary to help excrete the impurities within the body.
Now for the hard one! Supper. You can eat what you want, just do so in moderation. SOme people just don't understand how much is a serving so I am going to help you envision it. :-)
Picture a plate in two halfs. In the bottom half pile on fruits and veggies, except potatoes, corn and other starchy veggies. In the top half remaining, split it into two equal pieces. One quarter is for the meat you plan to eat. It must not be bigger than a quarter of the plate. The other side (quarter left) can be for the starch.
To summarize the previous paragraph, eat more fruits and veggies! Steak is ok as long as it's not often enjoyed (more than once a week!), or is less fatty cut of steak.

You are a star, thank-you so much for your easy to understand, sensible advice, some diets jst get so complicated and after a while don't seem to help, this seems far more reasonable than all the weighing and self-torture because I end up obbsessed about everything I eat. Lets hope this time it starts to shift without taking over my life,

Good luck to you on your weight loss endeavor. I truly hope you use my advice and let me know how it works for you. I have lost 10 lbs by using the plate example. I have also found that it is so-o-o easy to stay on track with your diet by going to buffets instead of the usual burger joint! A salad (lots of veggies and Fruits!) keeping the plate in mind, feel free to visit the buffet. You are armed with all you need so you don't over do it!

The perfect solution is to cook for the kids and you eat little or nothing. Budget yay! lol If you could just pay attention to the portions and get walking and excercising then you will notice a change. Gum when you would normally snack. Keep busy so that you don't eat mindlessly. If you put something on a never list then you will want it more. Also if you mess up a day then just start all over the next day. No need to buy anything special unless it is more fruit or vegetables. Good luck!!

1. Drink water
Water is quite possibly the single most important catalyst in losing weight and keeping it off longer term.
Water acts as an appetite suppressant by keeping your stomach full and fending off dehydration which can lead to false cravings/hunger.
Water also helps your body metabolize stored fat by helping the kidneys flush out waste. When you don't drink enough water the liver which works to provide stored fat for energy helps the kidneys eliminate waste and becomes less effective at metabolizing fat.
Drinking water ice cold burns about 62 calories a day. Your body has to work to raise that waters temperature to your body's temperature. This equals around 430 calories per week.
2. Eat regularly
This means eating 5 times a day and the most important meal is breakfast.
Make sure you fuel your body first thing in the morning to avoid hunger pangs later in the day.
When you eat 5 times a day you will never feel hungry, make sure the total calories consumed are sensible and don't over eat in any of the meals learn portion size control!
3. Eat lots of fibre
Eating adequate fiber foods to help keep things moving through your bowel. And like water, fiber rich foods bulk you up and make you feel fuller for longer.
Fibre is found only in plant foods our bodies cant digest it to so it simply goes through the body. During the elimination process it cuts calories consumed by attaching to protein and fat that you eat along with it removes that as well
In addition, high fiber foods are typically low in calories and filling, so you are reducing your calorie intake overall.
Good fibre foods include: strawberries, apples, figs, chickpeas, potatoes, (with skins) broccoli, brown rice, beans, bran and nuts.
4. Consume more good fats
There are good fats and bad fats
Good fats provide you with essential fatty acids (linoleic and linolenic acids) needed for normal reproduction and growth, as well as for production of prostoglandin, a hormone like compound that regulates blood pressure, prevents blood clotting and lowers the risk of heart disease.
For example, the reason oily fish is a great food stems from the fact that the essential fatty acids which it contains can actually help your body burn fat more efficiently and protect against disease. Get at least three portions of oily fish a week with Salmon, mackerel, herrings and sardines being good choices. 5. Get plenty of quality protein
Quality protein is an effective weight control tool because of the satiety factor and its ability to keep you full for longer periods. It also balances out carbohydrates by preventing insulin spikes that cause energy loss and sugar cravings
Protein helps to maintain muscle mass which is important in the fat burning process.
Good choices include:
Fish, shrimps, Low fat cottage cheese, low fat yogurt, skimmed milk, egg whites, s Weight gain is caused by consuming too many calories, whether they are from carbohydrate, protein or fat.
6. Carbohydrates can help you lose weight
Don't believe what you read about carbohydrates being bad for you, they can actually help you lose weight!
A diet containing good carbohydrates such fruits and vegetables, wholegrains and moderate in fat and calories, will result in weight loss
Good carbohydrates will also help you combat hunger pangs as they are slowly realized into the body.
When eating carbohydrates eat them "from the earth" with no refining or processing.
These include whole grains, vegetables; fruits and beans.
Sensible weight loss
If you have read the above you will see that it is not the food group, but the quality of the food in it that's important for fast weight loss.

I think that just be sure to always add vegetables and also another key factor is to be sure to make just enough to fill everyone up and do not leave left overs. If we leave left overs than we tend to eat again and one healthy filling meal a night is enough. Also drink alot of water and stay away from coffee and stuff and also try to drink more milk!!
