I had computer lessons since I was in high school, it was still then DOS that was used. But now Bill Gates introduced to us WINDOWS, and computer was never then neglected by us users. So, how many are here who have made formal educational backgrounds in computers? For those people that learned computer informally, can you tell when and where you started using a computer?

If I knew it, I guess I already forgotten it because of the time that passed. I am not that good in computer, so I cannot say anything that in which I am not familiar at!;)

I had formal computer education in the time of DOS and BASIC.. that seems long time ago and I wasn't impressed much about the idea of a home computer.. Windows then the internet brought life to a new industry.. Actually what I learned earlier proved to be obsolete later on and I started learning on my own and didn't get formal computer lessons again.

Yeah, I also have to take a computer crash course just to understand more of WINDOWS and it's functions. I'm really glad that computer have never been the same since internet was also introduced!;)

I took an adult education program to learn. It was still dos in those days and it was BORING. I didn't want to be bothered with the computer after that so I just basically avoided it at home. It wasn't until 8 or 9 years ago that I discovered windows and that was a whhole other ball game. Ironically, one of the gals I took the class with was the daughter of the man who invented Eniac which was one of the earliest computers at the University of Pennsylvania. He looked at her notes from the class and was pleased that she was getting good instruction but she thought the class was as boring as I did.

My daughters went away to college, we could not affort the long distance calls and I missed them very much. So we bought a computer. It was the first computer that I had ever used in my life. I taught myself to use it. Now I can repair the hardware and have no problem with the software.

I think it's good to know that you've learned so much about computer, even without formal introduction on it. It's really easy to learn it, by hands-on applications or even by self-help and reading by the book..

Well, I am feeling old now... LOL! When I started using computers, the software was on cassette tape and you only had a black screen with blue typing and there was no such thing as windows! I learned how to write a program in college and the along came Bill Gates and made have to learn everything all over! So I am basically self-taught! LOL

Same here, I kind of learn most of computer by myself. I only went to some crash courses, just to make sure that I learn the right way!;)

I had to learn to use the computer, at least enough to download some software and use the internet. My kids started on computers in kindergarten, and I had to keep up.

I never had formal computer education. I already graduated from college, when it was included in our curriculum. I only ask favors from my brothers and sister to teach me the basics in computer. Now, I just browse the internet if there are things that i need to know. I am really frustrated that computer subject was not introduced to us during college years.
