Lata M was born in September 1929 and has been singing for films since 1942 and has been singing for an amazing 65 years - one of her hits in recent years was Tere Liye from the film Veer Zaara, wasn't that a beautiful song? She has sung over 30,000 songs in her lifetime and there's probably more to come! She has been dubbed as the nightingale of India because of her amazing singing voice and her rivalry with her sister Asha is notorious. She has also won many awards over the years for "Best Playback Singer - Female" from the 50s through to the 90s, she's even won major awards in this decade too.
