Life on Mars is a tricky proposition; like on any planet. I think we should experiment on the moon first.
Mars lack of a protective magnetic field is the cause of the planets current lifelessness (at least, on the surface), radiation will be a major problem. So terraforming as in the movies is extremely questionable in my opinion. How can you do this without a protective magnetic field?
Our large moon keeps our planet from wobbling which is why we have a steady climate. Mars doesn't have a large moon like ours to also keep it from wobbling a lot, so don't expect a descent climate; you can have ice in the north pole and a desert the next year if, or when, it is ever terraformed.
Just my self-educated opinion.

I can challenge anyone to the whole scientists in the world that life in mars is an impossible one. Just an simple ex: you cannot create water artificially. Even though you create life will not be peacefull. You cant fight against nature. Optimum temperature is not there, If humans are going to be in mars, if it is going to be sure, then according to me they are not humans (we can not lead a normal life there as we are now) think about it. if any one got answer let me give your idea how as it is we are now how can we life in mars

I don't believe we'll be on Mars until the next century. Until then, we'll just have to enjoy "Life on Mars?" by David Bowie.
