I see alot of people do this. I do it myself. I think it is a subconscious way of everyone keeping thier balance while they walk

We move our hands and arms when we walk to help keep balance and motion. Once I had my shoulders totally out of whack for a good while, and I couldn't move my arms naturally while walking, heck, I could hardly move them at all. Once the Dr put it back to rights, I noticed an immediate difference in the way I walked and kept my balance. Just for laughs and an experiment, try walking across the room with your hands and arms tight to your sides (without moving them.) You will see what a difference it really makes:-) (Did you start walking like a penguin? hehehe)
