I think name is name and there is no problem to pronunciate it. There are may cities in the world whose name was not changed but from begenning its pronunciation cannot be done easily. During British rule in India this city was called Calcutta and to us has became popular now as it has changed as Kolkata it seems to us different. Once upon a time Kolkata name will be popular to those who never heared it as calcutta. Earlier name of Dhaka city was Decca now it is Dhaka.

The name of Calcutta has been changed to Kolkata now. But I personally prefer the name as Calcutta to Kolkata and find no logic in the change.

I have always known it as Calcutta since I knew how to pronounce and spell it, I feel very weird calling or spelling it Kolkata. Even my parents who were born there write it as Calcutta but do pronounce it as Kolkata as that's how it's always been pronounced by Bengalis (as far as I know). At the end of the day, it doesn't really matter who prefers which method of saying or writing it, what matters is that it's a wonderful place that I love to visit regularly, roll on November! :)
