Stretching before and after exercise is just as important as the exercise itself. You should stretch all involved muscle groups for at least ten minutes before you exercise. Once you are done, be sure to cool down with another ten minutes of stretching. Fitness professional, such as a certified personal trainer, may be able to suggest appropriate stretching techniques for you. Don't forget to see your physician before starting any exercise program. Do you do some sort of exercise every day ??

If I am right then I think this stretching up is also called warming up.Well my exercise regime is very short, it involves a little bit of yoga, but I feel there is no stretching up required before that.

Dynamic stretching is preferable before exercise - eg. high kicks etc - AFTER warming up properly. Then after you exercise, static stretching is good. Static stretching before you exercise actually does little to help.

Wow by the time I did all this I wouldn't have time to exercise. I always forget to do any stretching. This must be why I always have leg cramps after I exercise.
