inexpensive trips to Vegas?

I would like some advice on what places would be good to stay at for a one year anniversary in June that are not extremely expensive. I'd also like to know what is there to do besides gambling as we don't and what fun things we could do there, such as dining, shows, clubs, etc.

I would suggest looking at the prices for Bally's and Bill's Gambling Hall (not as gross as it sounds!). They aren't really fancy but they're comfortable and located right at the centre of the strip, which to me is very important. Another place that might be worth checking out is Ellis Island. I believe it's actually a Super 8 franchise but it's located just behind Bally's and only about a block off the strip. I would honestly rather stay a block away from the strip than at one end or the other. If you stay at a far end then you've got one heck of a hike to check out the stuff at the other. Ellis Island also has a good restaurant with really cheap specials. I think the cafe has a $4 steak and eggs special that isn't on the menu, you just have to ask for it. I recommend doing a search for cheap Las Vegas, you'll find lots of tips on the cheapest places to eat and drink as well as free or inexpensive entertainment. cheapovegas.com is a great site. Also, get away from the strip and spend some time on Fremont Street. Food and drinks are cheaper (2 for $3 Corona and 2 for $5 well drinks, plus the famous .99 shrimp cocktails) and there's always lots of free entertainment, including the famous Viva Vision light show which it completely free and totally amazing. Have fun!

You can also stay at some off-strip hotels, but have free shuttle to the strip. You just want to make sure you find out the schedule before hand.

You can also get reasonably priced rooms at Tropicana or the Hooters behind it.

I heard you can save a ton of money by not staying on the strip and there are plenty of nice places. I think there are a bunch of museums. try going to their website.

If your going to do Vegas right you need to stay on the strip. I would suggest going on hotels.com, orbitz.com, etc and checking the hotel rates. Some of my favorite Vegas hotels: the Venetian, MGM Grand, Treasure Island. There are some really hot shows in Vegas that you should check out such as the Blue Man Group. Treasure Island has a great tropical style bar and a great dueling pianos team that is really fun to watch -- no charge, just whatever you drink/eat. Vegas has tons of fabulous restaurants. For the best brunch buffett I'd suggest the one at the Rio -- which is off the strip but a cab ride away and very much worth it. have fun!
