Should I get another cat?

My cat is fourteen years old and recently lost his brother, the last of his family members. Now he is alone and I feel he may want a friend. I'm thinking of getting a kitten, but I'm not sure if he would like this idea. I'm thinking he may get jealous of the little one. My boyfriend suggested I get another senior cat, thinking that maybe he will bond better with a cat more his age. I'm thinking he might just get jealous of the older cat as well. My cat is very close to me, which is why I think he may resent a new addition. What do you think?

What you could do is check with your local animal shelter. Some will allow you to bring your cat in and let them look arround and see who they play with or cuddle with. Then it would making bringing another cat into your home a bit easier.
