When I was a child my mother used to read us stories and tuck us in at night. My favorite book was "Love You Forever". She always made sure to tell us "I love you, see you in the morning" because she worked nights and would come home in the morning. I loved this and I plan on doing the same with my children. Are there any traditions from your childhood that you plan on carrying on with your children?

That is good! I think that reading to childern helps them to learn to read. I had a college reading level in elementry schoo and I think part of that was thanks to my mother reading to me at a young age.

My Dad always used to give us a certain little wave as he said goodnight to us. It is something I always remember. He always used to say "Do you feel any older?" on our birthdays also. I do this with my children. They think it is silly but like it anyway.

That's sweet. I do the bedtime routine with DS because DH works weird hours sometimes and isn't always home then. But everytime that I put DS down, I tell him that Mommy and Daddy love him lots and lots. He's only 14 months, but he smiles and calms down when I say that. :-)
