What do you think of piercings?

What do you think when you see someone who is pierced? Does it matter if the jewelry is small and tastful or huge and scary? Do you think the same of all people who are pierced? The reason for the question is I have four piercings and I wonder what people think when they look at me. By the way my piercings are:eyebrow nose tongue labret (under lip)

Some small piercings look quite nice but some are so big in weird places, personally I don't know how they had the courage to get them I never had the courage to get my ears pierced let alone anywhere else..:)

I don't judge people based on their appearance, and that includes piercings. I don't see anything wrong with them, whether they're big, small, one or many. However, I do tend to evaluate the piercing itself. I might think "I don't think that looks right, or that seems a little wrong for their face." It doesn't really affect how I think of the person, just my way of thinking about piercings. I know some pretty cool people that have a lot of piercings, and some pretty annoying people that do. So I don't think it really says anything about you other than that you have piercings.

You are right some people just don't look right with some piercings. Myself I would never pierce my septum (the one that makes you look like a bull). It just wouldn't look right.

I think ears and belly buttons piercings are cute. I don't care for lip, nose, tongue or eyebrow piercings; for some reason looking at them makes my stomach turn. It's not a judgement on my part, it is a physical reaction and I don't understand it. When my son had his nipples pierced, I wouldn't let him take his shirt off in front of me. Mostly I am ok with people wanting to pierce their body parts, it is a personal choice and I respect that. I just wish people in public service jobs -- especially those handling my food -- would consider the feelings of their customers. I mean, it's really hard to eat your food when the site of your waiter/waitress is making you ill. Then again, maybe I've stumbled onto the next big diet fad!! And no, I don't judge people based on their appearance. One of the nicest, gentlest people I know is a guy who stands well over 6 feet, has tattoos all over his body including tats of skulls and rats. He had his eyebrow, tongue, lip and nipples pierced. He even had the skin between the nostrils pierced and wore a ring in it. He was scary to look at, little kids would scream and run away from him. But like I said he was one of the gentlest people I know, whereas the most vicious and abusive person I've ever met was a nondescript punk with no tats or piercings, just a bad temper and a black soul.

I appreciate people who are not afraid to express themselves. I think for some it is a form of artistic expression, others like myself just see it as a way to express their inner self. I have my tounge pierced. I have had my nose and a nipple pierced at different points. My brother once had 17 piercings in his face. Alot I know, but it made him happy! I think more people are becoming accustomed to seeing new and different things. The world is changing and slowly becoming more liberal I think in how they view others. Of course there will always be snobby people who think anybody who looks different from themselves are wrong..... I think it should be about what makes you happy. If I could have facial piercings where I work, I probably would consider it again. I also have tats, which alot of people judge along the lines of piercings...good question!

i respect people who have facial piercings.. i am way to afraid of the pain to get anything done like that!! the only piercings that i do a double take on are those huge earlobe stretching gauges. i live in a college town, tho, and everyone has something pierced -- even the sorority girls here have pierced tongues and belly buttons i think piercings are cool! any way to wear jewelery makes sense to me :)
