Another of these posts... Kids shouldn't be taken to watch that play - therefore they won't know about it unless we tell them. And why do that? I think it is good even as a role model because being 17 (turning 18 in July) he realizes this is one of the ways for him being seperated from this character. He's living in the real world. He is just an actor. A very, very famous child actor but an actor nonetheless.

i think its fine. He has grown up and he cant physically portray a young boy anymore. the only logical choice is to take roles that are more mature.
taking a mature role also helps to try and distance himself from the Harry Potter character..otherwise he will end up type-cast and that almost never gets an actor more work.
besides its a play geared towards adults. any parent that feels their child shouldnt see "harry potter" naked shouldnt be taking their child to a play where ANYONE is featured naked.
we all grow up, its just that Radcliff has been in the spotlights for all his growing years. and when the movies are said and done, and we see him again, its just a shock to realize how much time has actually passed.

I really don't think it should matter what roles he takes on. Do people care that the star of Inspector Gadget and several other movies for kids stared in Torch Song Trilogy? Many, many actors who do movies for kids also do adult orientated movies. It shouldn't matter what other roles he does. He's an actor and should be allowed to act. He needs to earn a living just like anyone else. I think the people who have a problem with it should really rethink things over. They are putting way too much into it and need to worry about more important things then what an actor is doing in a movie.

Dan can do whatever he wants. I don't see what the big deal is with him performing a play..A PLAY on stage. He's acting, that's his job. If parents don't want their kids subjected to that type of thing, don't allow them to watch it. But I don't see why that should interfere with his role as Harry.

I don't think there is a problem with it. The actor is growing up and he can't play Harry Potter forever.
Drew Barrymore was the cute little girl in ET then she grew up and played the young seductress in Poison Ivy. Actors grow and so will their roles.

harry looks quite cool . his face & body structure with his expression and body language is apprieciable. he will be fit for matured roles ,as he is responsible in real life too . i will be waiting to watch him in some other role/other than harry.

I think it's alright. He's all grown up already, it would be odd if he played immature roles :-). I will definitely watch whatever type of movie he makes.

He's mature enough to understand the role and besides being 18 and legal,he knows he's got to move on with other roles besides harry potter.So..if he's ok with it..then i see no problem with that.

After all Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliff is growing up. He has to take up matured roles. In the Potter movies themselves, he is different in the first movie than what he is acting in the current part of the movie. He is growing and his roles are getting matured part by part of the Potter Movie. Romance entered later, he became ferocious slowly. Acting is performing all sorts of roles. So why not Daniel takes up mature roles?

He's an actor. He can do whatever he wants. Sometimes actors have to act differently or slightly change to get more respect for future projects.

To be honest I think people are blowing this way out of proportion and drawing more attention to it than need be. :) The killing blow to any actor or actress' career is to get typecast into a role. The Fonz was THE Fonz and when henry Winkler made guest appearances on seperate television shows he either had to give his trademark gretting or was addressed by the show's regular cast as "Hey! You're The Fonz!" As a result a perfectly talented actor's career was pretty much shot. Due to all the fame and notoriety of the HP movies I think it's a wise decision on his part to move away from HP and to establish himself as Daniel Radcliff, talented actor, rather than Harry Potter.
On top of that he is taking up a truely ardurous task. Acting on stage in front of an audience is nothing like acting in a movie and this will give him a true challenge and test of his abilities. I appluad Daniel's decision. To me, to be opposed to an actor's decision to expand their horizons and challenge themselves to their fullest potention is to reject them as an individual and an actor.

It's fine with me. He's already 18, legal age. So, he can do whatever role he wants. People gets old and mature. At least he's already open in matured roles. Unlike other actors right?! Besides, it's not obscene anyways. It for art's sake. So, there's no big deal.

It's fine with me. There is life after Harry. Daniel needs to move on and see what else he can do. I say go for it. Otherwise he will always be known as Harry Potter.
