Ants attacking your hard drive

I encountered this terrible problem before when battalions of ants attacked my hard drive. They have destroyed my hard drive and so I lost my all my data.
I tried to look on the internet why ants do like to stay on the drive, I find no clue why, but I am guessing that they stay because the hard drive is warm.
If anybody out there do have explaination on this please post it here. We all be glad to know why and find way to avoid it.

ANTS! and I thought that I was unlucky.
I have known a myriad of problems occur with computers, but this is definitely a first as far as I am concerned. I would expect the speed of a hard drive to actually repel ants or similar pests, so I can only assume that your computer was switched off for a long time and that the ant attraction was incidental.

Sometimes I left my computer a longer times especially when I went out of town. Maybe they have found refuge on my drive while I am not around. Thanks for responding..

Put bug pelets in your pc case they will nto come back. Ants usually live in a habitat that has powdery substances in it for example in the dirt, and also my mate found ants in a bag of his green powder , fake grass stuff he uses for his wargames. Maybe it is just as you said, because it is warm.

I am sure there's nothing sweet I left on my computer. Ofcourse my computer is closed and there's no way sweet snacks going inside of it. Maybe there is another reason why they attacked and hive.

Yes, they have attacked my hard drive and destroyed it. I lost all my files and never had a chance to back it up. I know this really sounds stupid but this really happened to me. Thanks for the responds.
