How to welcome and be welcomed by new neighbours...

Hi everybody, it's my first time here and I would like to ask you people about my neighbouring problem. You see I have just moved-in to my new home in a new subdivision, and some of the houses are still empty, thou I've already met some neighbours I still have this feeling of uneasyness. I really like to be a good neighbour to them without compromising my privacy and theirs as well. I would be forever grateful for any suggestions or tips you could give me to live here peacefully.
