What do you do when your favourite tv programmes are on at the same time

I was wondering what people do when your two favourite programmes are on the tv at the same time on two different channels, I know it really bothers me when two channels want the ratings for the time slot that you sit down to enjoy a nights tv. I personally just flick back and forwards to watch both programmes which really bothers my partner. I could record one and watch other but we don't have a recorder of any sort.

I actually do record one of them... while I watch the other show. But it takes me quite some time to decide, which one to watch and which to record lol... ~MSD~

Thanks for that, I found when we had a recorder I would record 1 show and watch the other but never got around to actually watching what I had recorded so that was hopeless lol.

well then there's no point in recording indeed :-) But I do watch the recorded progs. If you have the digital cable you can pause a show and watch something else and when you're done you can continue watching the other show. They recently started with this here (Belgium). Kinda cool feature though... ~MSD~

i hate it when that happens. @.@ i blame the networks for that. lol what i do is just get hold of the remote until both programs are finished. i turn on the other program when its commercial break on the other program and vice versa. i dont care if others are watching. the rule is, whoever has the remote is the master of the tv. ^__^

hmmm... yeah, i think i would put a new discussion on that. ^__^ yeah its annying when they're on commercials at the same time. when that happens, i channel surf. dont care if their eyes get sore. lol but they usually walk out when i do channel surfing and goes back when the program comes back so no one worries of getting a sore eye. ^__^

Hey that would make a great discussion on it's own (who rules the remote in your household) I do the same but it gets a bit annoying when they play the commercials at the same time.

I do a lot of flipping channels during commercials when my favorite programs are on or if something is boring me at the moment I will check the other show to see which one is more interesting. Tonight is a good example since American Idol and Survivor will be on at the same time. I hate it when this happens since i love both shows. I do have the split screen option on my tv but the smaller picture is too hard to see.

Thanks for the comment, I love American Idol and hardly anything stops me from watching, but I know what you mean about seeing which is more interesting, tonight we had Without a Trace and Grey's Anatomy on at same time and I love both these shows, so had to do the flick over but find you miss too much of the thread of the story.

It's a real dilemma because I would watch one and tape the other - but which do I tape? The one I prefer - and have to endure commercials and perhaps risk someone phoning in the middle of the show and missing some? Or the one I prefer a little less and risk that my hubby put the wrong details in! And occasionally there's even more of a dilemma - three programmes I want to watch all on at the same time!!!

Thanks for the comment, I see there will be another dilemma soon as video players are nearly obselete do we keep all the old video tapes and then eventually have nothing to play them on or do we uptool and get dvds, players etc, then along comes another technology and we are stuck with a pile of dvds and nothing to play them on, the list is endless and unfortuately we want be able to get rid of all this stuff as nobody will buy it because they are doing the same as you, trying to get rid of it, so is it a good idea to tape all those programmes, never watch them because you don't have time or just forget about it all and just keep flicking the remote and changing channels.

I used to tape one and wqatch the other, but then I never got around to watching the taped one.....so now, I just pick one and go with that!

Flip back and forth between the two, or I will just pick which one I think is going to be more intresting that night and watch that one. I hardly watch shows on tv because I hate commericals, so most of the time I just wait for the DVDs to come out.

It's interesting isn't it that such a small thing as watching a tv programme could bring such hostile responses from husbands, partners, family or whoever, we have two tvs and only sometimes decide to say I'll watch the one in the bedroom if you like, it seems we would rather have a discussion on why the tv is going backwards and forwards to two different channels, especially knowing you can't really get the whole story if you do, ah well I suppose some communication is better than none hey.
