i think, the SMPS (the fan thing)is not working properly. you might have to replace it with a new one after taking a backup of your documents. besides, follow this:
1. keep your computer in a cool or airconditioned place
2. always ensure proper virus scanning, disk cleanup, defragmentation and a proper shut down of your system
3. go for regular cleanup of junk filkes and backup of documents.
4. try to know a little bit about your system both hardware and software

Take your side panel off of your computer and clean out all the dust and lent. You will be amazed of the number of people that never clean the inside of there computer.

hmm my pc was shutting down again and again but that was due to stinger virus.if u have that virus then remove it by d/w a file from web or going to kellys korner and search there u can remove it these days xp has the tool to remove that.
but u said abt the fans so i think u have to replace the smps.this might solve .when the cpu fans stop the pc gets restarted.

You may have a virus, you want to invest in a good virus protection prograhm before your comp is permanently ruined
