child has reputured disc can anyone tell me what to expect at first neurosurgeon

my 9 year old child has a reputered disc in her neck. she has a appointment with a neurosurgeon. she has asked me sever questions about what they will be doing to her. i have never had to go though this so i have no idea. i would be very thankful to anyone that could tell me anything that would help explain it to her. i would like to inform her of as much as possible to try to help keep her fears down.

From what I have found, it is like a herniated disc. It is very common. Treatment can vary from simple painm edication to more extensive treatment such as surgery. Here is a site I have found. If you have trouble trying to explain it to her, you should call the doctors office, and let them know your situation, I am sure they will be more then happy to give you great answers so you can answer your daughter. (Keep the answers simple without too much information, as you don't want to scare her) :)

i checked the site out. thanks. i had already talked to the doctor he was no help at all. i was looking for a simple, truthful way to explain it. he said dont tell her anything she was to small to understand. i ever explain what is happening to my 7 month old when he goes to doctor.
