The pope is the head of the catholic church. Period. He has no influence over other christian religions. In fact, there are christians who believe that the catholics are practically some kind of devils. Ignorant, but what can you expect of the religious?

I have heard that, too. But, there are people in every faith that will say the same thing about people in other faiths.

There are many orthodox churches and the head of each church is in his country. We have no one pope. Pope Shenouda is in Alexandria Church

Whilst what 0122777528 says is true, there are many Orthodox churches they remain in communion with each other and in that sense are one. Indeed the Bishop of Rome was originally part of the Orthodox Church till, in a fit of hubris, in the 11th Century the then Bishop of Rome declared himself Pope and so the Roman Catholic Church was formed. all the best urban

I am not a Christian but Pope is the leader of only the Roman Catholics. And Roman Catholics are not the only Christians, maybe they constitute the largest number of Christians, but still there are lots of other sects of Christianity.

No, the Pope is the top of the Catholic church but not all Christian churches. Other Christian churches will normally have respect for him as the head of another church but they do not answer to him and he doesn't decide what is done in other churches such as Methodist, Baptist, Lutherans - they have their own heads of the church or board of leaders. The Pope just seems to get the most publicity.

I agree, He is not the head of Christianity. He is head of Roman Catholic Church. Pope means like the top dog. There used to be 5 Popes, in the early church. There was one in Alexandria, Jerusalem, Antioch, ?, and rome... Rome was the only one in the west, then there was a pope ( i forget which one) a pope in rome, and he declared himself ponificus maximus, (head head top dog), and the other pope's were like NO WAY!, and Roman Pope was like YES WAY, and they excommunicated eachother. Then you have many hundreds of years, much ugliness, then the reformation, then a few more hundred years, (lots happens) and now you have the mess we are in now. I am a Christian, I just do the book, the 66 books of the Bible. The pope does not represent me as a Christian.

No he is not the leader of all Christian churches. Not by any stretch of the imagination. The catholic beliefs are not in line with the bible and so there isn't a bible believing Christian organization that would put their faith in him. Plus God told us not to worship anyone but him and it sure seems that loads of people are worshiping the pope.

Yes, specifically Jesus taught; But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren. And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven. Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ. But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant. Matthew 23:8-11 all the best urban

The papacy is the highest spiritual office of the Roman Catholic church, and whoever sits as the pope will be the number 1 leader but this is only in the Roman Catholic church. There are a number of different Christian groups who who are non-catholics and therefore don't look at the pope as a leader. So in response to your question as to whether this is agreed by all Christians, No.

The Pope is the ultimate leader of the Catholic Church and not necessarily of the entire Christian faith since there are also a lot of smaller denominations out there under the label Christianity, and they are not adhering their loyalty to the Vatican. Yes, as far as the Catholics are concerned, the Pope is the leader but even then in the Catholic Church, some people are just calling themselves Catholic but actually not practicing their faith and are not following any orders from the church.
