Barbaro? who cares

You may think it's stupid, perhaps it is but this horse, just a dumb animal, was a highly trained running machine. He tried to help the vets to help him by being patient and just calming down while he recovered from major surgery. I remember when Ruffian broke her leg. After hours of surgery, she fought to come to and broke her leg all over again. Barbaro was a gentleman with a lot of heart. Sometimes we just have to admire a dumb creature who just wanted to live. He put up a good fight. If anything traumatic happens to you, I hope you put up a good fight as well.

It was an inspiring story about a horse who was in a battle for its life. I wanted it to make a full recovery, but sadly they had to put it to sleep.

Evedently he was much more then just a "stupid horse". In the sport of horse racing the horses do all the work, unlike some sports. I don't know much about it but I guess he broke his leg. Usually when a horse does that they just put him down right away and don't even let them have a chance to recover. At least that's how it use to be. As for it not being a big deal. I would guess it must be because like you said it was on your papers front page at least 5 times. It is much more important then some other things that make headlines. Example polititions give them selves a big raise, or somebody wins nascar cup or some crap liek that.

Sorry dear friend , I am not criticising or hurting your feelings1 But would not be proper to say Barbaro as a stupid horse ! it is quite evident from your discussion that you are hardly have any idea about racing and the Racing heroes. The horses which run on the track and provetheir mettle are the ones who subsequently selected for breeding to improve the blood stock by using them in breding. Thus any good horse with good track record becomes an asset for the industry in upgrading the genetic material.Barbaro was a Kentucky Derby winner which means a lot and any Race lover can under stand what it means.Importance of such horses can only be understood by the persons involved in this profession or in this business. A good performing horse or performed horse to make him as a stallion may cost a big fortuneandit can be beyound ones imagination! Thus loosing Barbaro isnot only a big fincialloss to breeding industry but it is a big loss of genetic material which other wise would have improved the Throughbred Gene pool! Well for a common man a horse is after all a horse like any other animal, but for the people who are in the game barbaro means a lot! It is for your kind information that top cream strata of the World is involved in this business and money invested in this industry is too huge thus making these horses very special ones ! you sure are a compassionate person aren't ya? sheesh. He may have been just an animal but he was an animal that suffered greatly because of humanity's greed.As for being stupid,I don't think any human is in a position to call an animal stupid .I don't see where the human race is so da#n smart.
