My well went out :-( I have been quite sick for 3 weeks now and this morning when I went to go give my kids a bath the water stopped after only filling the tub an inch. Needless to say they were quite dissapointed. I checked all the breakers and they are all fine but there isnt a drop of water in the pressure tank or the water heater wich means it went out some time yesterday. I dont know what to do now. I have about 8 hours till my hubby gets home and no way to get to town or anywhere else that has water. We have plenty to drink but I cant do any laundry or dishes or anything. This is quite frustrating. Well I guess all I can do is pray that it is an easy fix when he does get home but unfortunately it is a submersible pump so there isnt anything easy about getting to it. Anybody have a well, got any ideas ?

sorry madam i can't understand the matter but i am trying to do answer that if the water pump is not (submercible pump) it means some thing jam in the nozel water intake place of pipe due to grass or if the water level go Low then it may be stop the pumping. If moter is working and water level is correct then water must come out through pumping.

Our pump is down under the ground, it isnt in a pool of water so there isnt any way to check the level without diiging it up, I am not realy sure what you are sugesting. There isnt any way for there to be grass in it. Can you be a little more specific ?

o.k firstly don't panic..get a pan of water and boil the water..or a kettle and start by cleaning up the easiest area first..which is the dishes..keep doing this until you have reached the point where you can relax...try to use a method ..it may take you a bit longer..but you can do it..let your hubby sort out the mains when he comes back if you can't get it fixed..take care and please relax..you will get more ill if you don't..love and peace..

Oh dear this is not fun - but a great excuse not to do the dishes:) I know years back I had a submersible pump at my house and it went out. When it was explained to me I cried thinking the time and cost involved. Luckily I have a friend who has a lot of knowledge of pumps and he said not to panic a $10 part installed at the top of the line, where it connects to the pump - it was called a "check valve". I can't explain how it all works but the pump shuts off and all the water goes back to the well then the pump can't pull it back up without being primed again. The check valve holds the water at the top so it's there when you need it.
Been hours now, am guessing the hubby is home and fixing it by the time you read this. Oh well maybe will help someone else.

Well, funny thing, he did fix it when he came home and it was so simple. There is a generator plug in and if it gets messed with it interupts the power to the well or whatever swich gets flipped. Its nice cause we can plug a generator right in to the house but kind of a pain when the kids mess with it. So now it is fixed no cause to panic. I thought I checked it but I guess I missed that swich and they are not labled. LOL sometimes I call myself a dork just to save them the trouble.
