Values are not taught ...they are caught....????

I guess many of the fellow mylotian members who are parents would be really wondering and spending the rest of time on deciding how to inculcate moral values in their children right from the childhood so that one becomes good human individual...what u think personally that by teaching to say "Hello sir,Good morning mam" and such stuff are u cultivating the correct values in them.. or just mere framework which represents the outside world..sre they ture values which need to learned by an individual or jsut mere hype or would u actually classify them as values..I jsut want to know what would be real values that you want to inculcate in your children .. is it the appearance of sound human individual or the ones that matter from the heart..
Feel free to discuss ..all ur advices would be valueable...

I feel that a parent should instill values and manners at an early age. It seems that each generation, world wide, is having a break down in family and social values. It must be taught first from home.

i believe all children should be taught to say yes mam, yes sir, and such. it teaches them to respect people and inturn gains respect for themselves. it can be called values, morals or just respectful but under any name they should be taught.

But what if children are only respectful and not morally correct inwards from the heart ..then such manners arent of no good...i mean the ones which are inculcated right from the heart...???what abt them..thats why u see the even persons with good heart committing crime...

I agree with your statement but partially. Yes children catch values. They find it easy to adopt those things which they see their loved ones doing. What we do at home the kind of enviorment we have has a large impact on them. Apart from this the things we teach them also help in polishing their personallity.
