I am a heterosexual, but I have many friends, and some family members that are gay. From what I have heard from each of them...it isn't something they just decided one day. They didn't wake up and go "Hey its cool to be gay...think I'm gonna be one". It is something they have all described to me as feeling this way all their lives. Science has theorized and may be starting to prove that there is a gay gene, so they didn't really have a choice there...no more than you would have a choice in your height. Metaphysics theorizes that perhaps the person was the opposite gender in their most recent past life, and that they carried over some of that identity. Whatever explanation people come up with, it is no more a choice for them, than it is for me and you to heterosexually attracted to who we are attracted to. I do hope you get some responses from the gay and lesbian community for this discussion, because ultimately...it sounds like you need to gain a little perspective here and walk a mile in their shoes. I have never known a gay person who "chose" to be gay, it's just who they are.

It's not so much that people change when they realize they're gay as much as they are realizing something that's always been true. Someone who comes out as gay could just be realizing it then when they come out, or they may have known they were gay as far back as they can remember and stayed in the closet for fear of rejection by their family and friends.
It's not a change in thinking or a choice. It's simply a realization. People don't turn into homosexual (or bisexuals or what have you). They're born that way.

Hello viru07.....
Sexuality is not a choice.
We are born who we are.
Given the way people treat those that are the least bit different than the so called norm, why would anyone choose to be that different ?????
