Internet 12-Step!
12-Step Internet Recovery Program:
1) I will have a cup of coffee in the morning and read my newspaper
like I used to, before the Internet.
2) I will eat breakfast with a knife and fork and not with one hand
typing.
3) I will get dressed before noon.
4) I will make an attempt to clean the house, wash clothes, and plan
dinner before even thinking of the Internet.
5) I will sit down and write a letter to those unfortunate few friends
and family that are Internet-deprived.
6) I will call someone on the phone who I cannot contact via the
Internet.
7) I will read a book...if I still remember how.
8) I will listen to those around me and their needs and stop telling
them to turn the TV down so I can hear the music on the Internet.
9) I will not be tempted during TV commercials to check for email.
10) I will try and get out of the house at least once a week, if it is
necessary or not.
11) I will remember that my bank is not forgiving if I forget to balance
my checkbook because I was too busy on the Internet.
12) Last, but not least, I will remember that I must go to bed
sometime ... and the Internet will always be there tomorrow!

LOL, I need the contact info so that I can admit myself immedietly for treatment. :) This fits me I'm ashamed to say. I absolutely love being here and reading all the discussions and responding to those that I can contribute to. #8 for me needs to be changed to "Just a minute I need to finish typing this response." Thank you for the laugh, it was much needed. :)

Number 7 especially related to me, my friend because since getting the internet I have hardly picked up a book! I used to be such an avid reader and would get through tonnes of books, now I just can't be bothered. I spend far too much time on the internet now, it can become very addictive, just like Mylot!

Tear myself away from the keyboard to shower and dress .. ohh I'll just have half an hour more before going to the shops .. then you look up and it's dark and nearly midnight .. heheh !!

Well you have this all planned out which is great to see for some members do not have time to do all of these things. You have really pointed out some really good items here for which the majority of members do not do even when they are not on the internet.

I spend most of daytime on the internet nao all the time on mylot though.I also spend my time reading a few books, studying for my exams, watching tv. But all the day long till i go to my bed mylot is always there on my mind. Whenever there is a question or an idea, i immediately return to my lot and post some. I am always logged in till night whether i use it or not.

LOL. Your not on mylot too much. You are just as addicted to it like the rest of us. I am limited for time each day on here so I usually have to sign off of the internet by 5:00 p.m. so I can cook and spend time with my family. My husband has been working alot of overtime recently and that gives me extra time to spend on mylot, which is nice. I am online just about every day trying to earn some income for us, but it is very addicting also.

Wow I couldn't have said it better, I have a couple more though for those who get to twelve and need something else!
13. I will listen to my child when he speaks to me and actually hear what he said past the MOMMY? I will try not to say just one more minute again...
14. I will understand that my husband would like to see more of me than the back of my head, and he would like to hear more than dinners in the oven.
lol

I like what you are writing here. It is very interesting because I love the internet too. The temptation of internet is very great for me because I am very passionate about surfing. Now with more money making programs online, I just cannot help but spend more hours here. But, what you suggest is good because it will enhance self discipline in my life.

no i don't think you're on mylot too much. your daily schedule sounds a lot like mine. lately i've been reading because my laptop is broke and i have to go to the library or a friend's house to use the internet. i don't write letters often unless i find that i have something really important to say. before my computer broke i would eat and type at the same time since i eat bagels or a sandwich for breakfast. sometimes i get dressed before noon it just depends on if i'm awake or not. lol. that sounds like a plan but i don't think i can do it because i'm addicted to the internet. that is my life.

A great post and one I can totally relate to. SPENDING time seems to be something our species in todays society does as if we were wealthy with it.
Ceratinly a few pennies earned sitting at the comp is valid I guess, but so are other forms of living ones life.
I applaud you for noticing, and noting some.

Nice post. I still do some of the things on your list. My biggest problem is to remember that I have to go to bed sometime...
