True Crime vs. Fiction

I can read the goriest books imaginable as long as they are fiction. I tried to read a book by Anne Rule one time and it really freaked me out. I guess I like to know that these things are only in the mind of an author - not a criminal. Does anyone else have this problem?

I am actually a huge fan of Ann Rule books. My mother doesn't see how I can stand sitting up late at night and reading them, because I live alone with my children, but they don't affect me at all. The criminal mind fascinates me, and you get the author's thoughts as well.

That would scare the pants off me. The time I read one of her books and saw the pictures in the middle, I kept thinking that I was seeing these horrible criminals everywhere I looked. Totally overactive imagination.

When we see movies or read novels, we are always amazed at the way the author and the director achieve their goals. The use of a web of tricks will produce a truly excellent piece to see. It's unbelievable - how have they done that? There goes our reaction. As we read a book, we are taken by the way the author had chosen the words to show us the intricacies of the story. Oh, wow, what an excellent book it is! There goes our reaction again. But once we hear or read these things in the news, we are appalled and say 'could this be true?' There goes our reaction, almost unbelieving. We might have forgotten that truth is stranger than fiction. We have gone to see some movies about gory killings but none can compare with the one which was from a true story about how one guy used his chainsaw for carrying out the killings. The saw series is out. We are amazed at how the killer intricately carries out his plans. Again, expect that a news will soon come out, telling of one which shall outweigh it.
