Does anyone have friends who have had the gastric by pass surgery? I have two of them. They were 425 and 300 pounds before their operations. They are both in their fifties and the surgeries were two and a half years ago. They both have children and one was married but her husband died last year. One has also had the skin reduction surgery and she looks slim but half dead and drained. The other is waiting for skin reduction. What I'm concerned about, other than their health is that they go out each weekend; I mean all weekend long; partying at the night club. And they're very promisquous. Their children are complaining about their behavior but it doesn't phase them. I think that they're not providing a good example for their children nor the grand children. One of the women said that they were making up for lost time. I asked her what time did she lose because God blessed her with children that she raised and know she has grands. She couldn't give me an answer but she was insulted. What they're on is a starvation diet and they're not getting enough nourishment to their brains. And also one's heart rate is lower that 40 that's another reason for my concern. If she's bothered with her heart she shouldn't be drinking at all. So there's nothing more I can say.

I had the gastric bypass surgery about 33 years ago and it didn't work as well for me, But I do understand you friends change in life style. to be burdened with all that weight, you know you are living on borrowed time, and are helpless to do any thing about it, so when help arrives and it works yes I would celebrate, Heck if they had told me that they would cut it off and not use as much pain medication I still would have gone for it. I was married and had 2 small children, so I didn't go off the deep end like they did but I do understand their thinking, and they will settle down it will just take time it is about the same as if you won a big lottery, it is their spending spree. So please do not abandon them they will come down to earth soon and you will be there just as they left you Bless you

I am 5'9" and weigh 220. I checked into getting the sugery and even went to a class. To me there is to much danger in the sugery. I feel like if God made you this way, and it is not broken, why change it. I just need to exercise and watch what I eat. If these two ladies are christians, they better be careful. You know the Bible tells you that he will allow the devil to take your life so God can save your sole. Just pray for them.

Hi, Bicklelady, I agree with you that these two ladies should be very careful and that they should be giving God praise and glory for the good things that He's done in thier lives and will continue to do in their lives.

I knew one guy who had this done my friends brother in law. He got thin after a while but now is big again because for some reason they had to reverse the surgery and take out the staples I think he was having a lot of problems not sure really.

I see it as selfishness and wanting the "easy" way out. The weight did get on them overnight. So it takes time to lose the weight properly and maintain healthy state of being. They should stop thinking solely about themselves but think about everyone envolved. My thoughts.
