For the first time, I'm very upset...

I could not believe that I will be this upset for the first time since joining mylot. I posted a discussion about animal savagery yesterday. One of the mylot member graciously responded to my discussion. After an hour, he also posted a similar discussion of his own. The discussion I posted is based on a true accounts of what my father experienced and witnessed regarding animal savagery. This discussion is something that will always remain in my heart. But to have somebody actually trying to post the same discussion after he responded to my own, I felt insulted and had to cry over this matter. I mean the story I posted was very precious to me. My father passed away 3 years ago and this were some of the stories he rarely shared with me. I hope some members will not be so insensitive to take advantage of other mylotter's discussions. I respect everyone's discussions and responses here. And I never dared to post a discussion similar to others. I know the rules set by mylot and I wholeheartedly followed it. Thank you for reading.

Hello.....
Do not rest assured.........
MyLot's policies state that they cannot keep on top of everything all the time and they need our help, which is why they have provided a way to report people who plagerize material or copy someones post.
Turn them in.

This happened to me just recently! I posted a discussion some time ago and one friends started the same discussion with the exact subject as heading! My mind whirled for a few seconds, thinking how incredulous it had been that one of my friends would start exactly the same topic, but then again, these sort of things are bound to happen. I've read though, that this happens a lot more frequently with the other members. Thanks for this topic, really helped letting some air out.

I suppose sh*t does happen. Oh well, we just have to move on and deal with it, right? Hope this won't frequently happen to you though.

It is really disgusting for others to be doing that. However, I have already encountered a lot of complaints to that matter. It is only yours that I have responded to so far because, the subject matter you have brought up that it is about animal savagery, is not very common. You have grounds to suspect that he had indeed copied yours. Neither would I like my original ideas to be copied by anyone else. I will surely be disheartened. It is pretty understandable why you are feeling this way. I hope everyone stops having this kind of attitude here in mylot. We are supposedly one community trying to be friends to everyone here.

i know you feel bad, but maybe he also had the same experience or something similar to your post and he also wanted to get some advice or others' point of view? or maybe he just wanted to have a more intensive discussion regarding that same topic? im sorry that you feel bad, and im just trying to show both sides, however- if you reaaly feel that you have been wronged by that person, you can always report that to the moderators or authorities here. I hope feel better ;)

Don't get upset, the does no good. You need to report the offenders so they can be banned from the site and this is probably the only thing that will stop them. The admin can't keep up with it all, help them out by reporting these people.

Aww Charms poor you, did you report that guy? If you haven't don't waste any more time and do it. I can understand what you must have felt, some users here are just ruthless! They don't care for others feelings nor for the rules. It is so sad that such things happen here. Again please report that user if you haven't done it yet. He doesn't deserve to go unpunished.

That's really sad to hear. I personally make some discussions only to find out that they're already existing or somewhat like what I posted. I've made this mistake before and I am really sorry. Rest assured I never did anything intentionally. As for the guy who did this to you, it's really mean...he intentionally copied it since maybe he thought it was a good topic and a lot of people would respond to it at your expense. I hope things work out for you though. Goodluck.

Hey! Cheer up. Maybe that guy cannot think of some worthwhile discussions that he had to copy yours. It's not only happening here in MyLot. We see copycats everywhere. From copying other people's fashion style, home decors to copying blogs.

Cheer up? When someone is ripping you off? That's nothing to be cheerful about. I wrote a quite long reply to another discussion recently, and was amazed to find the same words exactly used by someone not on another discussion but on the same one! That's not someone not being able to think of something, it's an act of theft. It's called plagiarism in legal terms and is subject to the law.
I don't think we're talking about using the same ideas and refashioning them, in this discussion here; we're talking about someone who's lazy but wants to earn money, and does so by using other people's exact words.
It's stupid, really, because it is obvious to anyone who keeps their eyes open.

Try not to let this upset you. The person who did this would not have known how much it would hurt you. Unfortunately not everyone you meet on the Internet are nice people although sometimes they seem to be. You did nothing wrong in sharing this story so try not to let it stop you trusting others and sharing as that diminishes your enjoyment.

I'm new at my lot and I posted something about being a tv addict. After I tagged my post, I scrolled down and noticed that another poster already posted a similar discussion. But the one before me was posted about three weeks ago already and didn't get that much responses. I hope I will not be accused of taking her post.
I think it's different in your case because he posted the same topic only after an hour. I think that is a lack of "netiquette" and he should be turned in. I hope this will not discourage you from posting meaningful topics in the future.

Im sorry about what had happened to you. Hmmm I alwsy thought of mylot people are nice and polite but I guess there are really not to nice people around. There are others who take advantage and are parasites. They do not have a sense of originality and just copy and paste others stories. I guess they hav ran out of ideas thats why they tend to copy others' work.

I see this all the time- Numerous posts about the same types of things-- But never telling the same story- I would flag the discussion and in your flag tell mylot why. They should be able to do something- at the very least delete the other discussion. Probably won't make you feel better because the person already stole your feelings- memories... but at least they won't get paid from it.
Alot of people are here simply for the money and will do whatever it takes-
I'm sorry that someone made you feel that bad here-

I am very careful not to steal others postings I like to do a search first just to make sure. Because in the beginning I had done it, it was not intentional but I felt really bad about it. I feel bad for you i have not had this happen to me except that I have thought of something but someone else thought of the same thing. i think it is really low to take a discussion especially one you left a response in . You know for sure this was no accident.

I am sorry this happened to you. It is one thing I try not to do on any forum. Now, I must go look for your thread because I don't think I saw it.

It's a pity really that people can stoop so low. There are so many issues you can start a discussion with instead of hijacking a dicussion started by another member. You may wish to report the member and let mylot take it from there. The community is growing fast and all types are now joining and more strange things are bound to happen.
