The foolish man seeks happiness in the distance; the wise grows it under his feet (~James Openheim)
Well I like this quote. I agree with limitup that quite mind does bring happines. But all of us also can grow happiness ourselves, by helping other people, loving people, etc

If your from the U.S., then you must first remember that we are all taught to take care of ourselves first, it takes one who is paying attention to detail as I like to say to stop for a moment, take a breath, look around themselves access their situation and pull people up with them. But you must still be careful., not everyone is worth the time. You have passed the first phase of stopping and looking in the mirror and realizing you need or could access your situation for improvement. Sometimes helping others helps yourself.

Great point Sailor.
Also I like that above quote. I also try to experience the poster's point about helping others. I think that I use the fact that we don't need anybody else to become happy as an excuse to not help others.
I suspect there is tremendous value in helping others, but I think I'm selfish at times and am missing out on something better. How goes the expression? If you want to get, learn to give.
I've still got a lot to learn. Kudos all.

It is true that we should not take money as the main source of our happiness. This way, we will be misled in life and thus, take the wrong route. The common end thing will be pursuing to have money after money, forgetting why there is a need for such amounts other than meeting our worldly wants and needs. A good attitude here will be to use money, with wisdom, to pave the way for happiness.

It's good that you have found happiness in rearing your son. Nowadays, there are not so many loving parents anymore, your son must be very lucky to have you for a father.
My happiness these last few years had been confined to my 3 kids, too. However, the two are old enough now to be considering marriage. My eldest, a daughter, might leave us for Sweden. Her boyfriend lives there. Next after her is a son, he is not contemplating into getting married yet. The youngest is a boy, he is 19 years old yet. He has not yet fully recovered from his leukemia, but I am thankful that he is doing much better these days.
