Use different names as USERNAMES? They always conceal their real names and come up with FAKE names, for reasons better known to them. I have seen most of them posting or discussing on very good topics, yet they conceal their names and come up with strange names, that is un conceivable. Why is this so? Are they afraid of their identity, hate their own identity, love thair own identity, respect their own identity...... so much that they dont like to divulge their real names!?!?!?!?

I don't know why they do that. My username is a combination of my first and last name. I don't know if they do it to be creative, or do it to keep their identity secret. I would assume it is a part of both. However, I learned in the past that it gets hard to remember some usernames for different sites if you have several. Especially if you have some sites that you don't log in on a regular basis. I find it easier with my username as I don't generally have to add anything or change the spelling or anything to it and it gets accepted. I thought that was pretty crafty myself. lol

Everyone has nicknames, pen names or literary names. Mine is from one of my books, and it's a fair description.
Some people have preferences for how people refer to them, too.
User names, or handles, are an internet tradition of a kind, which started when the net began.
It's also a possible security issue. Some people prefer to remain anonymous, because they've had issues before.
If you have a common name like mine, which exists in literally every English speaking country and city on Earth, a specific nickname makes sense, in my case because there are also at least two other professional writers with my name.
Identity fraud also becomes a lot harder if you don't know whose identity you're trying to steal. It's more often than not a case of identity protection.

Personally my username is not to hide my identity or so I can troll or spam here... when i signed up my username was gone so I used my gaughters nickname.
I do think that some people sign up under false names and post controversal topics just to get a fire going and create tension and arguments but not everybody does that.
