I think for a single core, we are aproaching speed limit. We cant travel faster than as electron, maybe if we use light we will have a broader bandwidth. I think this is the reason the manufacturers is now focusing on multiple cores.

I think that speed is not the limit, since the technology always getting advanced, but right now I think the processor manufacture will more concentrate on multiple core until gettin bore than it will push the speed again, just imho, I can't predict the future.

yes i think so.. people makes a new gadget things or invention.. as long as time goes by.. i dont think so, the upgrades stop now.. we are looking a better thing to satisfied our self.. as long we are alive..

limit? i don't think so. the latest processor is core2quad 2 processor support on a motherboard. the speed is much more higher than a normal core2duo processor. its fast than 3 pieces of p4 3.2MHZ

Technology is always evolving. Even when we hit the limit, there are always ways to skirt limitations. In microchip area the solution to the 3 gig Hz problem was to make processors with 2 e 4 cores... Parallel applications can take great advantage of this processors. But for most people this is not a problem as most of us don't have or don't need top computer to work or to have some fun.
