My star rating is dwindling away

When we were all first given our star ratings mine was at a level 8. It has since dwindled down to a 6. What I have learned about the star ratings is that your ratings are configured partly by how people rate your posts and discussions and I am not sure mine are even getting rated. And by your participation levels here in the community. I have not been real active as I am finding it more and more difficult to find discussions to respond to. Either I have no opinion, or my opinion is the same as someone who has already posted, so I don't want to add the same thing. I go out of my way to try to post a good response that isn't one or two lines and to abide by the mylot rules and guidelines and yet my start just keeps dwindling. This is so depressing! How can I get my star rating back up? Any tips and advice would be greatly appreciated.

Post quality comments on discussions from people who post quality discussions. I just rated your comment on my discussion with a positive so that should help you some. I rate all the comments that I receive on all my discussions. I try to post quality discussions also. I tend to stick with people who post quality discussions also. Hope this helps.

I am reasonably sure the "formula" they use is pretty complicated... and has to do with everything from the "+" and "-" ratings, to the quality of your discussions, to the quality of responses, and whether those responses are rated positively, and so forth. Post discussions in categories where people with high ratings tend to post and respond.
Also, when you respond, be picky about what you respond to (which it sounds like you already are)... I get the impression we get fewer "points" for our responses on discussions that involve a lot of fighting and have a number of responses removed by myLot... perhaps part of their "formula" judges whether the discussion "adds to the community," or something like that.

I agree with you. But I think my biggest problem is that I am not posting enough responses daily to show that I am really active here. I log in everyday, but I may not post to but one or two discussions, only because I can't find anything that I feel needs my input. When I first got my star I was a nine..then went down to a six and have kind of leveled off at a seven. I am trying to post more daily so that my activity level increases, but so far not too much luck there.
Thanks for adding to my discussion. Your opinion is appreciated.

You know I have been hearing this same thing from other people. I sure hope it does not happen to me. I have been on here a little over a week and the second day I went to a red star or should I say nine. I have always remained at that. I have been wondering why I do not reach a ten. Sorry I am not too much help, hope someone else can answer your question. It might help me to understand also!

just suck it up and stay active, they don't look at every post so take some for granted. that will get your score back up.
