When I was a kid and we had a backyard we always buries our cats and other pets in the backyard. Now I live in an apartment so I don't have a backyard. What I do is have my cat cremated separately and have the ashes returned to me in a flower canister. I then hold on to them until I can get to my sister-in-law's house and she lets me bury them in her backyard. I could never throw my pets in the garbage, they're part of my family and they deserve a place to rest.

I've buried my cats in the backyard, but when I tried to bury my Tabitha, the next-door neighbor's yippy dog happened to be nearby and wouldn't shut up! So I had to take the cat back into the garage.
Burying any animal requires some precaution, as some squirrels might dig up its corpse. I was told to spread a few mothballs around to keep away unwanted visitors, and that's what I intend to do, just as soon as I get the cat buried.
Btw, throwing out an animal's body is just not an option for me.

I had two large dogs die at the same time. They were poisened. We burried them in the back yard in a very deep grave. They didn't smell at all.
