My first tatoo

My daughters have convinced me to get my first tattoo. It is going to represent our unity as a family as well as our heritage. This means working in something Irish (probably a shamrock) something Swedish (a viking helmet maybe) the kids initials and a word in Gaelic, something like family or unity. Does anyone have any suggestions? Does anyone out there know the Gaelic word for family or unity?

I think that will be neat. Personally I like the Celtic cross but a shamrock works as well :) I did a quick look online and found that there is no direct word that equals family. Here are the ones that come closest: Teaghlach Your parents and siblings Clann Your children Clann Lir - Children of Lear Muintir Wider community family Muintir na hÁite - The local people Teaghlach Household: Your immediate, nuclear family (husband, wife, kids) These came from: http://www.irishgaelictranslator.com/ Hope that helps and good luck with the tatoo

I understand that tatoo is an art and it was used by ancestors in tribes as a symbol or part of rituals. But I don't think tatoos will be a part or painted in my skin. I'm scared of needles and it doesn't look clean to me. :)
