Do any of you have a problem teaching this prayer to your children?
"Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray Thee Lord my soul to keep. If I should did before I wake, I pray Thee Lord my soul to take. If I should live for other days, I pray Thee Lord to guide my ways."
Do you think it morbid and horrid? Do you think your children would suffer nightmares from the prayer?
My children find comfort in the prayer - they know that with life comes death and of course hope that the Good Lord will receive them into heaven should death happen. However, more than once I have been made to seem unloving for having taught the children how to pray it. Why do so many think it is such a scary thing? What versions of nighttime prayers do you pray with your children?

Since my daughter is only one year old, I thought her a simple prayer because her memory is still limited to a few words. I think its good that we teach children to pray, no matter what kind of prayer, be it for nightmares or sickness, the important thing is that we teach our child to fear the Lord and ask guidance from Him.
