A Poem for My Precious Daughters

Any moms out there that also composes poems for their children?
As I watch my beautiful angels slumbering
I feel so much love for them with my whole being
It's like a part of me has been ripped and hurting
And only with them would I be complete and have meaning
They're my reason, my life, my blessings to unfold
My life's treasures more precious and shining than gold
Endless worries and bills to pay hounds me daily
Always struggling to make ends meet do make me weary
But I'm always revived and ready to face another day
With all the hugs and kisses they keep showering me
For them I will endure hardships ten time more
For the joy they give me is way beyond measure
Now as they grow older, I can't help but wonder
Their complexities and uniqueness, I ponder
How this miracle of beings could come from me?
With such intelligence and sharp curiousity
I can't help but love you both more and more each day
With all thier antics, tantrums and maddening ways
To see them both grow & be the best that they can be
Is all a mother like me would want to see
We may not know what the future holds
One thing is certain, the truth be told
I will always be proud of you, my precious babies
As you fulfill your dreams and go into life's journey
To God Almighty I say a prayer each day
To keep you healthy and always safe from harms way
To light your path so you may see clearly,
The road that brings you closer to Jesus and to Mama Mary
With you I leave my life's only legacy
And that is YOU, my children, so live with dignity.

That was beautiful, you have a real talent. A really heartfelt piece of writing, I hope your children get the chance to read that as they get older, I'm sure they will treasure it forever. God bless you and your kids. x

Thanks for sharing this very lovely poem. I am a father & a few months before my daughter was born in 1978 I'd written apoem for her. Some day I'll have to dig it out of my storage area & maybe post it here. Once again thanks for this poem.

It is indeed a great poem for your kids. I'm not a mom yet, but I do write poems for my best friend. I have some compilation of it but not enough to publish it in a book. It is a great gift for them once they reach the age when they can appreciate that kind of thing. I suggest to put it in a capsule and give it as a gift to them. That will be the sweetest thing I guess.
I have some poems for the people who come and go to my life. The emotions that comes along with it are always present in all my works.
