Is there anybody interested in playing with me online or via email?

oh It would be nice playing with a human being and not with a pc... I mean the pc is always telling me that I am awful and it corrects all my mistakes but it is not the same...so if you want and can be patient with me we can arrange and try playing together

That is so right....once you have played chess a few times, it only takes a refresher game to get you back into the swing of things, much like riding a bike.
I haven't ridden a bike in over 25 years, but I feel confident if given the opportunity to ride one, that I could do it successfully! You know what I mean?

it will be very bice of you to ask your son and tell me something after doing this...yes I could join a local club, there are plenty here in Rome but I am too busy and I cannot find the time to go there too..it will be easier finding an e-learning solution or a friend to play with by email or on line.
thank you for any help.

I like playing chess:) But I'm not so patient to wait long for my opponent to make a move, not if it takes 2 hours!!!
Would you like to play with me?:) If yes, I'll contact you again with the name of some site....
:) Hope to play with you!!

ok :( I really need a lesson on being patient.
Best of lucks!!!
My sister loves to play chess and is far better than me. But, she takes nearly two hours of thinking before every move she makes. That's what I meant when I said that I may become impatient. Playing with new ones, I am quite patient:)

I can play chess! I think I learned it a few years ago. I had a compendium of 25 games set or something and chess was one of the games. So, I just read the rules and how to play and started playing with my mom. She knew a little bit too and I read out the rules to her. I think chess is quite fun though it needs lots of thinking. I rarely play chess now because there's nobody to play it!
I used to play online chess at Yahoo! games with other people. It was really fun but all those hours online made my Internet bill go higher. Then, I stopped playing online chess already.
Haha! It is never nice and fun to play against the computer. I think the computer is the biggest cheat. It will always try to make you lose. It's more fun to play with a real person. Try going to Yahoo games and you'll find other chess addicts there. Have fun playing!

Hello maribea, this old discussion appeared at the top of my friends discussions again and my offer still standing :) as I said earlier, I gave chess lessons before and it's not boring for me to deal with beginners :) the only problem is I don't have much free time lately but we can try it on yahoo 2 or 3 times a week if we connect at the same times, send me a message if you want to, It would be a pleasure since i need the distraction too :)

Yes I play chess, i used to be an average club player and played in many tournaments and had good results but nothing spectacular, I even gave lessons to youngsters in our club :) I don't have much time for it these days and I quit the chess club but I still play sometimes with friends or online on Yahoo messenger, I realize this discussion is a bit old but if you are still interested add me to your friends list and send me a PM.

I can play chess! I normally play on yahoo games. On this site, they have different levels of playing, beginner, intermediate, and expert. And there are so many rooms available!
However, I am not the best player as I am not so great on the strategy end of the game. I can "guess" which move my opponent will make, but there always seems to be another move for them that I didn't see!
I am great at putting someone in Check, but rarely checkmate. I have won four games in the past while playing against my husband, back in the days before we had the computer! He is less than expert, but more than a novice. He usually upsets me by kicking my butt in just a few moves.
You really need to play often to hone your chess playing skills.
I think it would be most difficult to learn this game through reading books. I commend you on your efforts!
If you are ever in a mood to play chess with someone, send me a message and we can try our hands at yahoo! :-)

Yes, I was a late learner. My son taught me and we play together quite often. If you can't find anyone to play with you in person, I suggest 3d Chess. It's a very cool and fun program.
