Where, Why to, How to live, Anywhere

I happened upon this internet article this morning in my inability to go back to bed. I'm unable to copy paste since I haven't attained a 500 score yet??? That in itself is confusing, but not my point. The link is... http://money.aol.com/progfarmer/realestate/bestrural2006 The essence of the article is a report attained through research, done by the organization listed, showing "Bests" and not so best with regard to counties in the USA. I note it here because I've been a Gypsy most of my life, and have lived in a lot of places. I found it humorous in away, that not only was there no County listed in the state I live in (Florida) but Florida wasn't in the top ten for "warmest" in the country. I also noted, with little surprise, that the top ten Coldest counties, (in Winter) in the USA, were all in Minnesota. The variety of suggestions in the researched article were many, and I wonder what causes people to live where they do. Certainly many remain in an area where they were born, or have work, or family, or move to be with a loved one, etc.; But I wonder of those who have other considerations, perhaps as suggested in this article? I assume we all make some levels of compromise in where we live; I'm just curious. Would you, for example, move to a Number One rated location, for its own valid rating, while giving up other considerations? Steven Wolf

Good question Steven. I am happy where I am, although I could go for a lesser amount of winter. Hubby would love to move to a region that is warm year round. I have said that warmer has its down side too. Hubby would also like to move back to Holland where the healthcare is better, the social security is better, the living is better. There may be points that are better for many reasons, but still, there's no place like home. Home for me is in the Northeast of the USA. I was born and raised here. This has proven to be a difficult topic for us.

Certainly personal preferences may clash, and yet, compromises can be reached, especially for the physical well being of both. I was born and Raised in WaterTown NY, and lived there for 21 years, but I'd never again accept a Winter there. I understand Threads to Home/Heart as well as the tired cliche regarding IT is where the heart is, but for me at least HOME resides within me. Anything else, so far, at least, has just been a Place, and often. Thank you for the response.
