Is it really better to have loved and lost than not loved at all?

I think so. If I never would have loved I would have never know the joy and happiness it can bring. I would have never know what people mean when they say they got butterflies in their stomach and I would have never had that complete feeling. Losing love isn't easy, but at least I can look back and say "Yea, I know what its like. Maybe it wasn't true love, but there was love there. I look forward to finding it again".

Thank you for your response but when you think of it this way, you cant miss something you never had. Like wouldnt it be better to have this ideal of how great love was, if you never had it? But having it can make you bitter and resentful and make your next love, torture and full of worry and nervousness, which could ruin that one.

I disagree. Wouldn't it be better to smile and reflect on what you have enjoyed then to sit back and wonder what its all about.

hey friend, welcome to mylot first, well in my views its better not loved at all than loved and lost, because one can bear pain or feeling of not loved at all, but it's truely very painful and unbearable that loved and lost, as one gets so much into that relationship, and when we lost that, its very difficult to come out from situation, so its better never loved at all.

I really think so... We have to gamble to win... if you dont gamble, surely you'll not get lost but you wont win either... the essence of everything is how you enjoy all the feelings which envelop love...

Yes, I believe that it is better to have loved and lost than not loved at all. At least you experienced the feeling of loving someone with all that you have. If you lost someone you love, or if that someone left you, then at least you won't have any regrets..at least you were able to show that person how much you love him.
Loving is something to be proud of; It's something that makes a person complete. It is something that teaches us more about ourselves and teaches us to grow.
